Across the planet, etched and carved into stone, silent stick figures dance out of our past. Their remarkable similarities and shared characteristics point to an experience that transcended the distance between the artists and shamans who recorded the images in stone.
The stick figures of what has been dubbed “The Squatter Man” generally appear to represent human form although many are strangely duck headed or display other curious anomalies. They are accompanied by seemingly unsophisticated depictions of animals and pattern formations. This in apparent contradiction to the skills exhibited by the cave art such as was found at Lascaux, France. It can be argued that these formations are not the primitive carvings of unskilled artisans but accurate representations of something witnessed, something experienced, by the artists and shamans.
Shamans ceremonially painted the images of bison in the womb-like caves to evoke the presence of the herd for the hunt. The tradition of shamanic practices to anticipate events crosses many cultures and is a strong indication of a past in which humanity consciously recognized the ability to use symbols, language and intention to shape their reality. Images of mystical personas conjured through the use of ceremonial entheogens to aid the shaman are also recorded as evidence of a broader spectrum awareness that surpasses our contemporary and limited view of reality.
The Squatter Man took on special significance with the identification by Anthony Peratt of plasma instabilities in the lab that clearly recreated the same stick man patterns that are found in petroglyphs around the world. The energetic stages of the Peratt Instability are indeed a match for many otherwise unexplainable petroglyphs. Peratt’s discovery gives us a solid clue to visible inspiration for the images found in the glyphs apart from those potentially experienced with the use of entheogens and ceremony. His discovery underscores translation of plasma formations into the Gods and Goddesses of myth and legend. It also provides evidence of an energetic process that we can see as a template for the manifestation of energy into form.
The patterns within the plasma instability are readily evident with the structure of life on all levels of scale. By following the plasma patterns and taking note of secondary alignments we can begin to understand the vital importance of the images and perhaps messages, which our ancestors left us etched upon the stones.
